I am so outraged. Congress once again approved another blank check for more unending war, more occupation, and more brutality in Iraq. But heaven forbid you remind the members of congress of the cost of the war to the Iraqi people. If you do you'll get responses like "you have the nerve", "I know that", "spare me", "who told you the democrats caved" or even an outstretched hand.

Worse were those representatives, if you can call them that, that justified the Iraq war by saying to me "I didn't vote for the appropriation" knowing full well that it is a brutal occupation costing countless lives. This is the morality of those in office, a simple negative vote absolves them instantly.

The only rep that connected with our message was Mr. Murtha, a combat veteran in Vietnam. Seeing us as he returned from voting on the appropriation for more plunder, he came right up to us and embraced us. He then counted out on his fingers what $550 billion could do besides war.

So why only Mr. Murtha? Where are all the other representatives? Shouldn't they be embracing us too? Can this brutal occupation be justified on any grounds? Why do they persist in supporting it? Though I tried at every opportunity to explain that this war is completely unfair, not just illegal and immoral, none of them ever agreed with me.

The only question now that matters is who will end this war? Us or the Iraqi people.

George

Nope, not simple at all. Where you posting from, anyway, soldier?

There is a really simple solution to ending the war and it does not come from protesting at Congress. The simple solution is to bring stability to Iraq. That is what will bring the troops home. If we leave it unstable the people of the Middle East will pay and we will only have to go back.

Code Pink is doing nothing to promote the kind of stability that is needed for us to leave. All they are doing is trying to undermine our efforts there to insure that we lose and to insure that Iraq is left unstable at the peril of the Iraqi people.

Even easier solution: we stop occupying a sovereign nation. Period.

It is amazing how simple Code Pink thinks everything is. Just leave, that will solve everything. No consideration to what happens after we go.

Typical Code Pink, slogans and no substance.

And by the way, you make it sound like an oppressive occupation. Many areas have electricity that they never had and running water and sewage. Also, schools are being built that did not previously exist. So, you call it an occupation, I call it uplifting. You want to keep these people down. At least you have something in common with the terrorists. All of you would have us go back to the Dark Ages.

How could you be "outraged?" Everyone knew in advance the funding was going through. Did you just act surprised and outraged? This was no surprise. Keep sticking with Code Pink and you will spend your days being outraged because nothing will change.

The tribal friction in Iraq WAS stabilized under the dictatorship that was the Hussein regime. A regime that the Bush administration originally fostered and encouraged with open trade of weapons and training. A regime that the Bush administration looked the other way on so long as Hussein remained a paying customer of our military industrial complex.

This isn't about bringing stability to Iraq - it's about stealing their oil and resources after they stopped trusting and doing business with us, pure and simple.

Thanks for expressing my sentiments, George. We musn't give up the struggle for a peaceful world. Let's renew ourselves during this holiday and come back strong in the new year.
We miss you already!

Ron Paul will end the war. Yes, I know about Dr. Paul's stance on Roe v Wade and a few other issues on which we'll never see eye-to-eye. But he knows enough to say those issues are not within the span of control of the President. The man is for liberty for all, not just those in complete agreement with his views. He is for bringing the troops home as soon as possible, he wants to eliminate the Patriot Act and restore habeous corpus NOW. Ron Paul in the Oval Office and as many Democratic candidates as possible in the House and Senate might just bring us back from the brink of disaster.
